About This Place

Nestled in the heart of South Lake Tahoe, Cold Water Brewery and Grill is a standout destination for anyone craving classic American flavors infused with a fresh Californian twist. This brewpub and grill is more than just a place to eat; it’s an immersive experience where every bite and sip tells its own story. Located at 2544 Lake Tahoe Blvd, it’s the ideal spot to savor the mountain air and enjoy elevated comfort food paired with some of the region’s most refreshing craft brews.

The menu at Cold Water Brewery and Grill brilliantly showcases a variety of crowd-pleasers and unique creations. The Fish Tacos arrive bursting with fresh, flaky mahi mahi, perfectly complemented by a side of flavorful street corn — a clever touch that adds a bright, smoky crunch. Their Bavarian Pretzel beckons with its golden crust and fluffy interior, ideal for sharing over a cold Wheat Beer or their signature Hazy IPA. Fans of hearty fare will appreciate the juicy CW Burger and the sumptuous Ribeye, both delivering satisfying, rich flavors that linger. For those with a brunch inclination, the Bloody Mary and Wild Mountain Mule cocktails provide the perfect spirited accompaniment to a leisurely meal.

Notably, the Ahi Poke Bowl and Falafel Pita offer lighter, yet equally exciting options, combining fresh ingredients with bold seasonings that awaken the palate. The Fried Chicken Sandwich stands out as a crispy, savory delight, while the Housemade Tortilla Chips alongside the Tahoe Loaf with Spinach Artichoke Dip are perfect for sharing and nibbling amidst lively conversation. For the little ones, the menu thoughtfully includes favorites like Chicken Tenders, Kids Burger, and Mac N Cheese, ensuring everyone feels catered to.

Cold Water’s vibrant ambiance plays a pivotal role in its appeal. With inviting indoor seating alongside a lively bar boasting an impressive selection of tap beers brewed onsite, guests can immerse themselves in a cozy yet energetic environment. Outdoor seating beckons on sun-soaked days, providing the perfect backdrop for savoring your food and drinks amid Lake Tahoe’s natural beauty.

Guests consistently mention the attentive service that elevates the entire experience — Maria, for example, has been praised for her warm and thoughtful attentiveness, ensuring every visit feels personalized. While some visitors note that the food might occasionally lean towards standard pub fare, the overall quality of the brews and the expertly crafted cocktails keep patrons returning. The happy hour deals further sweeten the deal, providing excellent value during weekday afternoons.

One subtle but meaningful detail that adds to the dining experience is the open kitchen design, allowing guests to catch a glimpse of the culinary craft in action — a bonus for food lovers who appreciate transparency and culinary artistry. Though a few have mentioned minor glitches such as sauce distribution on the mahi tacos affecting texture, these moments do little to dull the overall positive impression.

Adding a layer of community pride, Cold Water Brewery and Grill also offers branded merchandise, including stylish T-shirts, hats, and even dog bandanas—perfect souvenirs or gifts that bring a piece of the Tahoe vibe home.

In summary, Cold Water Brewery and Grill is a celebration of craft beer culture combined with accessible yet thoughtfully executed American cuisine. Whether you’re unwinding after a hike, catching up with friends over beers on tap, or enjoying a relaxed family brunch, this South Lake Tahoe gem delivers an inviting atmosphere and flavors that stay with you long after the last sip. It’s a vibrant stop where the crisp beers flow freely, the food satisfies comfortably, and every visit feels like a welcome return to the best of Tahoe hospitality.

This is a pleasant brewpub and restaurant. They have outdoor seating for those perfect summer days and plenty of seating indoors. The burgers were good and the mahi mahi tacos were awesome. They have a great selection of their beers on tap, which were crisp and refreshing. The restaurant is a little pricey, but that’s life in South Lake Tahoe. There was plenty of parking when we stopped in for lunch.

First time here, coming back from Camino. Luckily arrived for happy hour, prices were decent, service was on point. The beers are quaffable, the food is fairly meh. Come here for a cold one, look elsewhere for pub grub.

Maria was a great and very attentive server. I love the vibe here, and I especially appreciate that they brew their own beer on-site. My wife and I enjoyed several beers and cocktails. The food was delicious; we ordered the mushroom burger, fish and chips, and minestrone soup. Everything was great, and I will definitely be back.

Cold Water is a cool place with a great atmosphere, featuring several inviting rooms and a very nice bar that boasts a large selection of draft beers. I loved the open kitchen -although I didn’t have the chance to try the food during my visit, food looked delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed their happy hour, which is well worth checking out. (2-5pm on week days)z Around 6 PM the ambiance becomes even more vibrant. I ll be back for sure .

Star ratings. 1 bad. 2 below average. 3 average / neutral. 4 good. 5 excellent. Loved that street corn came as a side for the tacos, great flavor. I wish i saw this more often. The only thing with the food was the Mahi tacos had too much sauce and put down first instead of on top, which caused the tortilla to soak up the sauce and split, making it difficult to eat. Sat outside, which I'd assume is your busiest spot. Thus, you'd put your most experienced servers. Ours was not. Every server has an off day. My wife was a server for nearly 20 years. Ours seemed to be newer and had a hard time keeping up. He'd only visit one table at a time, then go back in vs. stopping at a couple at a time to maximize his efficiency. Most tables just need a quick item. Beer flights come with up to 7 pours on the holder, which is nice. Good beer, better than most "tourist breweries". Limited outdoor seating. Larger groups could sit inside.
